Spring & Summer Style Guide
What to Wear to your Spring or Summer Photo Session
Spring is here and it’s time to start planning your outfits for your upcoming spring or summer session. Some clients dread putting together outfits for your photo session, but I’m hoping these tips can help make it a bit easier for you!
These ideas are to be used as a guide, it doesn't mean you need to follow them exactly - maybe you have similar pieces in your closet already. It's all about pairing light neutrals (tans, whites, cream, light grays) with a hint of color (usually a muted pastel color, think: light, rose-y pink, soft olive greens, dusty blues or chambray).
My best tip is to start with one outfit, usually moms or daughters. Find a pretty delicate floral print or pattern that you love for yourself or your daughter (I only suggest one floral print). Then look at the colors in that dress/jumpsuit or outfit and build from there. For dads and sons I usually recommend sticking to very classic, neutrals such as henleys, button downs, or sweater and pair it with khakis or light gray pants.
In Spring I always suggest adding layers to your outfits as well. Layers photograph really nice and it also helps incase the weather turns out to be cooler than planned. Layers like cardigans, jackets, vests are the perfect finishing touch! Don’t forget bowties, hats, headbands, and cute shoes!
I’ve window shopped at a bunch of my favorite stores for my own family and have linked a wide variety of options on this pinterest board - besides my favorite stores like Old Navy, Target, Zara and Carters, here’s a few others to consider: Morning Lavender, Jamie Kay, Pink Blush, and Roolee.
